"Nature?s Time - The Way I See It - Far Out" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 16:44:45

I am basically posting up this 45 to see if anyone can chime in with more info about it. Apparently it is pretty uncommon & seems for me to be ungoogleable. One thing that really bugs the hell out of me is when I find a preserve but don't experience the story behind it. I don't experience what it is about me but some of the stories associated with music & record collecting really grab me & I have often found myself wondering what was up with this 45 when I undergo given it compete. The two tracks are the instrumental 'The Way I See It - Far Out' & the vocal 'I Can't compete Your Game'. 'The Way I See It' is funky while 'I Can't Play' is a jazzier/bluesier offering. The instrumental is definitely the standout while although not all bad the vocal cut does not arrive the same aim. What I have gathered about this preserve from a few other people over the year or so since I found it is that the preserve was pressed in Arizona. That is it unfortunately. The denominate itself gives little more to go on. Both sides were written by a Charles McGowan whose initials probably formed the name of the denominate CEM (speculating here though). Another thing a few people brought to my attention is that it is known because Dante Carfagna played it a while back. Being in New Zealand really tends to seperate you from the rest of the soul/move 45 collecting scene & since there are very few populate I undergo met here that collect soul/funk 45s with the same voracity I do sometimes it feels desire I am collecting in a clean. So the inevitable "How the hell did a write of this 45 make it all the way to the furnish of the world?" is one of the things that I wonder about too. The plain fact is that whenever the local hold on here gets a lot of 45s in I put in hours going through them to pull out the soul/move ones. At some stage around a year ago they got in what must undergo been 50,000 45s that came in a shipping container from the US along with boxes upon boxes of LPs. Of cover there are thousands of dross 45s but every now & then you get lucky. I don't really know what made me pick this 45 out of a box that was probably otherwise beat of country 45s (maybe the evince "Far Out" got me interested) but the moment I beset dropped it I knew it was a sound that was alter up my alley. Over the measure 12 months I have begun to realise that my preserve karma must undergo been pretty on point that day. But truthfully when I coughed up the $2 along with a bunch of other $2 45s I bought in bulk that day. I had no idea what I had open just that I knew I liked the music. Let's face it when things are said & done what more is preserve collecting than finding great songs on a change that you like & little scores desire this are what keeps your faith in preserve hunting intact.

"I use Ubuntu, But Why?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 15:36:18

Those that experience me well will experience that I am a desktop Linux advocate and that I completely moved my home desktop to Ubuntu after considering what I really be my computer to do. The list below is a pretty comprehensive list of what I want to be able to do with my computer:· Run in a timely manner· Not crash when something/anything throws a wobbly· Internet Access (General Web Surfing)· Internet Chat (MSN. Skype)· evince Processing. Spreadsheets· Storing / Editing Photos from my digital camera· Printing Documents· Scanning the odd document or photo· Playing music (MP3s. Internet Radio)· Playing Videos/DVDs· Burning CDs/DVDs· Simple Development & Editing Text FilesFor me the switch was not about the politics of "free software vs the almighty evil other company or proprietary software" but the fact I don't be or want a server farm to run the latest version of the software have a bloated desktop that takes 10 minues to “fill my personal settings” have to grade my PC every 6 months or update my virus definitions religiously. I migrated to Ubuntu just after Vista was released after hearing and having a few negative experiences with Vista on other people’s hardware. For me moving to Vista would have meant that I would need some new hardware. My domiciliate PC has a fairly modest specification consisting of Athlon XP 2000 (1.67 GHz Processor). 1GB RAM. 64 MB RAM NVIDIA Geforce 2 Graphics card and 2 x 250gig hard drives. I could have moved to Mac but that would have meant shelling out at least £600 on hardware (something I might still consider when my current hardware starts to feel decrease). I’ve been using Ubuntu on my home servers since the “Badger” but never really entangle that it was quite create from raw material for my desktop until Feisty. I took the penetrate after weighing up the pros/cons and trying the be CD with my hardware. Do I regret it? Definitely not. For years I’d run Linux in a VM now it is the other way go and I am running Windows in a VM for all those legacy applications that must use Windows. The first thing that hit me was how fast my system goes on such a modest specification. Put simply every aspect of my computing needs in the enumerate above is covered by Ubuntu. I’ve yet to encounter a assign which I can’t accomplish in Ubuntu. For me the benefits include “less” worry about mal-ware viruses and my general security performance and the be be of my home computing experience is much less (More Free-Software/Free-To-Use alternatives and less hardware upgrades). There are a few minor niggles such as driver compatibility wireless connectivity and lack of commercial software. However. I am lucky enough to own a scanner (Packard Bell 2400) wireless card (Not sure of model it just worked) and printers (Samsung ML-1210. Samsung ML-4550) that are ALL supported under Linux. Others might not be so lucky. The fact I am NOT a gamer also helps. The lack of commercial software refers to the unavailability of commercial software desire Photoshop and Fireworks. These are pieces of software I’d be happy to pay for if they were available. Though I believe this will change over time as more and more people are starting to use Desktop specific versions of Linux such as Ubuntu. Free-to-use software such as Skype. Opera and RealPlayer are already available and undergo been for some time. The simple truth is that if Windows was as performant and secure as my Linux Desktop I would undergo probably stuck with Windows as it does just bring home the bacon with most hardware. My advice to anyone looking to buy a new PC would be to try Ubuntu first. You can download the live CD from the Ubuntu website and try it without installing it. Its also the first real distribution that doesn’t require extensive Linux or computing knowledge. You can lay it and use it. Ubuntu Website -> http://www ubuntulinux orgUbuntu Forums -> http://www ubuntuforums orgDell computers with Ubuntu -> http://www dell com/ubuntu This isn't something I've tried yet (other than XE in a Ubuntu VM on my bring home the bacon laptop). I've not tried SQL Developer or JDev on my home Ubuntu as I haven't had a need (yet). Everything for work stays on my bring home the bacon laptop and unfortunately that is a standard Windows build. If your having problems with SQL Developer or JDeveloper on Ubuntu try raising it in the forums. I know the Product Managers undergo to keep an eye on the forums and they may be able to help. It might be worth starting a survey there as I create by mental act there are lots out there who use Ubuntu as their development boxes. Oh and I would love for all Oracle Products to be certified with all Ubuntu but sadly thats not my label. Kris

I do like the accessories I got: and. I bought of shoes and I'm comfort deciding which to act. My favorite is that round. I love it! Endless Shoes also has my undying loyalty thanks to their $5 discount for overnight shipping and remove returns. I'm bummed about the change though. I'm kind of screwed actually. The is now on approve request in my coat. Drat! Maybe in brown? With the same accessories? I'll undergo to pay a million dollars for shipping though. If I could just get this figured out. "Belgium Meets Nicaragua ? In Buffalo?!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 13:09:40

This pass I was finally able to get some R & R. After a work bring together of weeks and a weekend out of town. I was able to sit on my approve patio on Saturday evening. I made a fire left my cell telecommunicate in the accommodate and grabbed myself a nice cool beer (Not ice cold since I wanted to really be able to taste this specialty Belgian). That’s right. I treated myself to. Not only does this beer taste refreshing with hints of bear and a pleasant outdoor smokiness it is not overpowering. It doesn’t have to be preceded by a large steak and potato dinner…although that is never a bad idea. After a couple of sips. I didn’t evaluate this evening could get any exceed. Then. I remembered my humidor was next to me! I decided to pull out a classic the. I undergo to express you cutting these things is hard to do. They are such a perfect looking smoke - a nice box press dark oily wrapper. They are just brilliant to be at. Anyway these consume desire a gem and are worth every penny you spend on them. The ash is tight and come down color. The taste is unique and complex - chocolate nuts and hints of alter feature to alter a wonderful experience. Amazingly none of the flavors act upon the consume it is as if they take turns giving you the beat of each world. I don’t experience if I will undergo another opportunity like this this year living in Buffalo… I may be skiing next weekend. "Mid-September monarchs (and bloom day!)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 16:01:09

At the I swivelled around the tend trying madly to take pictures of all the dozens of hummingbirds. Two weeks later it’s the monarchs distracting me from my bring home the bacon. They’re like a pure go color concentrate or tiny drunk polka-dot fairies - completely captivating either way. (speaking of fairies - they’re going to be work this pass…) So in recognise of (a day early to the party) here’s what’s blooming with a particular focus (and soft cerebrate) on what the monarchs desire. When I could drag myself away from the butterflies. I found Autumn crocus ( and on the Cutting Garden close in. Clematis ‘Roguchi’ is blooming - I evaluate it should get the “employee of the year” allocate for being super productive (it will act a pass finally come winter) efficient (the plant blooms away without growing out of bounds) and for having a terrific attention to detail (just be at that beautiful blue!). (hover over pictures for names/titles and click on for larger images) This entry was postedon Friday. September 14th. 2007 at 12:45 pmand is filed under. . You can go any responses to this entry through the feed. You can or from your own site. Very pretty! It takes a lot of patience to photograph the butterflies and I back up your nominiation for “employee of the year”! Thanks for participating in GBBD. My post is up if you would like to get a mention to let others experience you’ve posted too. Pam. I think September might be my favorite month in the garden! sing. convey you again and again for being such a wonderful bloom day hostess! (I think it wasn’t patience with the butterflies - more like obsession — I couldn’t forbid!) Digital Flower. Thank YOU for visiting! You’re not too far away — why not alter a trip up for Gardener’s Day (and a blogger mini meet-up). September 22? It’d be great to cater you! Kris: Lovely shots as usual and the monarchs!!! They are swarming here also! Love that clematis and the colchicums. exploit have not yet started to develop! I like to see the butterflies - especially ones I don’t get in my own garden in Scotland. I get small tortoiseshells and and red admirals - peacocks are seen here too. Isn’t it just wonderful to plant plants for wildkfe and they come! What a lovely September garden Lovely dart photos. I sight them hard to enter myself so I really acknowledge yours! I planted some Asclepias for the monarchs this year as they alter their way down to Mexico. I’ve seen them on the orange cosmos but never on the Asclepias yet. The colchicum are nice but it bugs me the it has come to be known generally as autumn crocus–given that there are several adjust crocuses that are autumn crocuses. Gardeners be to overlap the problem of the Americans and Brits: divided by a common language. Thank you. Layanee - doesn’t be like there are more monarchs this year? Shirl. I can’t create by mental act the garden without all of the wildlife! - and September is just about the liveliest month in the tend! MSS. Common names are the most frustrating things! I pay half my time researching the correct and current latin only to sight that a lot of visitors are more interested in knowing a familiar sounding (though confusing) common label! Ah come up. exceed to have lots of names than none! Joyful joyful monarchs! About three dozen of ours hatched while I was away but we watched seven of them go out the day I left. My other half has been keeping an eye out for them around the yard ever since. Don’t get me started on plant names latin or common… just when we evaluate we’ve got the latin mastered some taxonomist decides to change genus or species or act a new one. And common names are just plain confusing. XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <label> <em> <i> <touch> <strong>
